XIV Khariton’s Readings (Scientific Conference) for high school studentsXIV Khariton’s Readings (Scientific Conference) for highschool students started on 27 February, 2014.
The Conference coincided with the 110anniversary of Yuly Borisovitch Khariton – one of the prominent and world-knownnuclear scientists who stands among the founders of the USSR atomicproject.
At the opening ceremony the students werewelcomed by the deputy scientific leader of VNIIEF Nikolay Zavjalov, theDirector of the House of Scientists Elena Shapovalova and the Head of the cityadministration Valery Dimitrov.
The acting scientific advisor of VNIIEF and thepermanent Chair of the Organizing Committee Radiy Il’kayev greeted theparticipants, saying: “The highest achievements in science and culture of theXX century belong to Russia,and as for the impact, Russiamade into the world cognitive processes, our country will always be pioneeringthis trend. It is really appreciable that the young generation strives forjoining the research and scientific community. Be all of you present successfuland daring and eager to reveal the best of your scientific impatience.”
Over 260 students from 20 regions of thecountry, 60 of them being the high school students from Sarov, participated inthe sessions of the Conference. The contests in math, physics, chemistry, biology,history and the Russian language were offered to the participants, followed bythe lectures presented by the well-known scientists, and tours around theplace.
On the 2 of March the Conference was closed,the panel totalized the results of the same and rewarded those who succeeded.
